Class and Workshop Descriptions

Our classes and workshops are always changing. We offer one extended-format class at a time to keep our studio spacious . We sprinkle in workshops at least once a month, and sometimes even once a week! Read on to discover the various classes and workshops we offer throughout the year.

  • This class is perfect for you if you’re brand new to wheel throwing or you want to brush up on your basics! Over the course of two months, students will learn about the ceramic process from start to finish: wedging, throwing, trimming, firing, and glazing. In this class we will focus on the fundamentals of wheel throwing like centering, pulling walls, and shaping the clay into basic forms like cylinders and bowls. Our small class size of six people will allow our instructor, Alana, to offer everyone personalized support and attention. As a student you will also have access to 12 studio hours per week in addition to the weekly 2.5 hour class. One 25lb bag of clay will be provided. This class is all about growing in your skills and confidence.

  • Another name for this class might be “Trying To Make Fun Forms You Saw on Instagram.” This class is an ideal fit for you if you feel confident in your basic skills and are ready to experiment and challenge yourself. Our instructor Sheilagh will guide you through throwing lidded forms, closed forms, sets…and maybe even assembling a teapot! (Plus, whatever you saw last night on Instagram.) This class is also a great time to experiment with various textures and decorating techniques. Our small class size of six means you can learn both from Sheilagh and your fellow potter classmates. As a student you will have access to 12 studio hours per week in addition to the weekly 2.5 hour class. One 25lb bag of clay will be provided. Join us to experiment with support, grow into your technique, and find your style.

  • Learn to bring the clay to life using the oldest ceramic technique: handbuilding. You will take on different projects to help you learn various handbuilding approaches, from coils to pinch pots to slab building. You can learn to craft functional items like mugs and plates or explore more conceptual pieces like sculptures. Our instructor Addie will help each of the six students find what calls to them and build new skills. As a student you will have access to 12 studio hours per week in addition to the weekly 2.5 hour class. One 25lb bag of clay will be provided. Handbuilding can be done anywhere and is well-suited for anyone looking to play with clay at home. See what you can create with just your hands and some mud!

  • Pop in for some wholesome Friday night fun! Our rotating studio helpers will offer a quick demonstration of the steps when throwing a pot on the wheel, followed by time for you to play! You do not need any prior throwing experience -- just a positive attitude and clothes that can get muddy. Your studio helper will finish (aka trim, glaze, and fire) up to two of the pieces you make at no extra cost. This two-hour workshop is fabulous for a solo date, silly time with friends or partners, and the opportunity to reenact that scene from Ghost.

  • We are still cooking up our specialized workshops and classes! These day-long, weekend-long, or extended format classes will include wheel throwing, handbuilding, and decorating. Examples of one-of workshops are sgraffito, paint a mug, build a pipe, or make a paint palette. Examples of extended format classes are creating sets and making teapots.
